Anemone

In 2005 we were asked to make a sculpture for the new Great Western Hospital in Swindon. It was to go in a tall blue coloured light-well.

The site could only be accessed through the doorway you can see in the background of the picture and there was a boiler-room under the floor which limited the weight of the finished piece.

It was important to make a piece with a large presence and, taking a cue from the colour of the walls, we decided to make a piece inspired by aqautic forms. The sculpture was made of sheet steel pieces which were bolted together on site. The paints are environmentally friendly, produced by a German manufacturer and designed for heavy duty applications such as oil rigs. Agent Axis Artists.
